The North Coast Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (NCCAS) provides information, support at court and referrals to women and children who need protection and are considering legal intervention.
HOW NCCAS HELP
An Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) provides protection from domestic violence by prohibiting further abuse, intimidation and/or harassment. The ADVO can have different types of conditions to protect you, even if you want to continue to live under the same roof. It is important that the ADVO will suit your situation. There are conditions that can stop any type of contact, or that the other party stay away from your house or workplace.
If you want to know how to get an ADVO, or what will happen at court, NCCAS can provide you with information about the processes. We will also give you details of other services that may be able to assist with your other needs, such as housing, financial or children’s issues.
At Court
NCCAS can provide you with a safe place while at court, give you information to help you understand what is happening and work with you to get an order that is best for your situation. NCCAS can also keep you informed about the progress of your matter through the court, including future dates when you need to attend court.
The service will offer referral to other services that can help you with safe housing, income support, children’s needs, family law, counselling, and other requirements. NCCAS will provide you with information about what to do if the abuse continues.
